Why a “no tip” policy?

For several reasons!

  1. Tipping can be awkward!
  • “How much is the going rate?”
  • “I get massage regularly to help with xyz pain, not for relaxation…do I still need to tip?”
  • “Did I tip enough? To much? Ahhhh, I forgot I don’t get paid til tomorrow and I don’t have enough to cover a tip…will the therapist hate me?”

2. It creates stress for both the client and the therapist.

The client wondering about tipping etiquette,  and the therapist wondering if they will receive enough tips to help paying the bills.

3. Beyond that, I believe that massage can be an important part of caring for your health; in lines with going to any other healthcare professional.

While massage can be relaxing or help you unwind, it’s often is also a therapeutic service, aimed to help bring the body into more balance.  Since I also provide other services with functional health, I wanted to keep my massage practice similar by not accepting tips.

I want to make it clear that I don‘t speak for the massage industry!

A lot of therapists who are employed do rely on tips to make up a portion of their income. Other therapists choose to keep lower prices in an effort to help everyone be able to afford a massage, knowing that those who tip make up the difference with those who don’t.

My “no tip” policy is simply a personal choice to take out the awkward “am I supposed to tip” feeling for you, and allowing a set rate that supports my business, the same as other health care providers.
